The
Makena South Course combines a new and old set of nines, creating
a very challenging and scenic layout. So much so, in fact, that
the Callaway State Open returned to this special venue, after a
run at Mauna Kea. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the South
draws upon the natural terrain and flora to create a golf course
infused with a distinctive character.
The South Course is a 7,017-yard, par-72 with rolling fairways,
undulating and fast greens. Hole #4 is a difficult 407-yard, par-4
that dog-legs around a lake. The par-3 No. 5, is 200 yards of carry
to a green well-flanked by bunkers, and with a ravine on the right.
The #10 hole, at 514 yards, features a lake on the right that comes
into play off the tee, and a pond on the left that comes into play
on your second and third shots. |
